Lawrence Triples For Wando Girls; Thompson Runs 21.06 200

Led by Clemson-bound Zeniyah Lawrence's three victories, the Wando girls track and field team claimed its third straight Class 5A South Carolina state title at Spring Valley High in Columbia.

At the two-day meet held on Friday and Saturday, Lawrence clocked 11.68 seconds in the 100, 24.04 in the 200 and soared 19-4 in the long jump to repeat her titles in all three events.

The Wando boys also had a strong showing, scoring 77 points to make it a program sweep.

Boiling Springs senior Najee Thompson broke the state meet record in the 200, running 21.06 to claim the Class 5A title. Thompson also won the 400 (47.03) and finished second in the 100.

Summerville's Imagine Patterson swept the 5A girls hurdles titles, winning the 100 (14.13) and 400 (1:01.15).

Robert Brawell of Blythewood cleared 6-10 to win the 5A high jump.

Jessica Brewer of Fort Mill vaulted 12 feet to win the 5A title.

Dreher senior Jacory Patterson clocked 47.64 to win the 400 4A crown. The state record holder in the 200 DNF'd in that event and he was also second in the 100. 

Eighth grader Jayla Jamison of Airport impressed, sweeping the 4A 100 (11.77), 200 (24.75) and 400 (56.03) and added a title in the long jump, soaring 18-11.25.

Junior Cathryn Roberts of May River vaulted 11-6 to win the 3A crown.

Christ Church senior Jordan Haywood took home the girls 2A titles in the 100 meters (11.72), the 200 (24.61) and 100 hurdles (15.19).

Calhoun County senior Thanton Jordan clearned 6-8 to win the 2A high jump title.

Woodland senior Tedreauna Britt claimed the 2A discus (160-8) and shot put (45-7).
